3 Should-Watch Thriller Films That Are Excellent to Stream within the Summer time

The summer box office is no place for a great thriller, simply because audiences are drawn to big-budget action and animated flicks during the hottest months of the year.

But if you want to feel some chills go down your back during these long summer days, the streamers have some recent thrillers that made their mark in the last year.

The Watch With Us team has selected three must-watch thriller movies that are perfect for streaming this summer.

Our choices include a suspenseful thriller, an action flick and a supernatural chiller that largely went unnoticed during its initial release.

It’s been a somewhat dry year for thrillers on Netflix, but the genre is apparently in season at the beginning of summer! Copycat, a thriller starring Sigourney Weaver and Holly Hunter, is celebrating its 30th anniversary by breaking into Netflix’s top 10 most popular movies. Netflix is also celebrating the legacy of director Alfred Hitchcock […]

‘Longlegs’ (2024)

Maika Monroe has really come a long way since her days as a scream queen, but she may find some new reasons to scream in Longlegs. It’s not a spoiler to reveal that Nicolas Cage plays the titular serial killer, but the film does a great job of withholding his character long enough to make his presence seem terrifying.

FBI agent Lee Harker (Monroe) has made it her mission to find the elusive murderer known as Longlegs. Now that the serial killer is directly taunting and threatening Lee, the case takes on an even greater urgency for her. Stopping Longlegs’ reign of terror may hinge upon Lee’s ability to locate Carrie Anne Camera (Kiernan Shipka), the only woman who ever escaped from this killer.

Longlegs is streaming on Hulu.

‘Rebel Ridge’ (2024)

Sometimes, a movie comes along and you just know that the leading actor is going to become a bigger star. Rebel Ridge is one of those films, and it’s already propelled Aaron Pierre into a leading role on HBO’s upcoming superhero series Lanterns. In this film, Pierre plays Terry Richmond, an ex-Marine who just wanted to start a new life with his cousin, Mike Simmons (CJ LeBlanc).

The long Memorial Day weekend is over, and chances are, you took a well-deserved vacation. That usually costs money, though, so if you’re on a budget or just want to stay home and see a good movie, Watch With Us is here to help. Thrillers are always reliably entertaining, and we’ve selected three of the […]

While passing through a small town, Terry is attacked and arrested by police officers who seize the money he needs to bail Mike out of jail. Although courthouse clerk Summer McBride (AnnaSophia Robb) is sympathetic to Terry’s plight, Chief Sandy Burnne (Don Johnson) doesn’t seem eager to do right by him. That was Burnne’s second mistake. The first was crossing Terry, because he’s a man who is more than willing to get a little payback when justice remains elusive in this action thriller.

Rebel Ridge is streaming on Netflix.

‘Presence’ (2025)

There may be more interest in Presence this week now that one of the film’s leading actresses, Callina Liang, has been cast as Chun-Li in the next Street Fighter movie. This supernatural thriller is a marked departure for director Steven Soderbergh, who cast Liang as Chloe Payne, the daughter of Chris (Chris Sullivan) and Rebekah Payne (Lucy Liu).

After Rebekah moves the family into their new home to help push the athletic career of her son, Tyler (Eddy Maday), Chloe begins to sense the unnamed presence in the house. Chloe was already grieving the loss of a close friend when she moved in, and now she’s emotionally vulnerable to something she doesn’t understand. The bonds holding this family together may not survive when the presence makes itself known.

Presence is streaming on Hulu.
